AT&T Is charging me money after closing account with no balance honorably ending contract, what are my rights?
Two months ago I noticed that my AT&T wireless contracts were expired and ended up moving to another wireless carrier. I ported the numbers. Recently they have been calling me and asking for $80.00 but I haven't spoke with them directly (voicemail was left). I was aware of things like this happening and decided that I should probably get proof so I got the cust. svc. rep to email a copy of the acount changes she had completed (eg. the termination of the account and verification of the expired contracts.) when I terminated the services.
I would like to know, now that I am out of contract, are they able to affect my credit report? Sould I pay them for obscure charges? What rights do i have, being that I was informed that the account was closed in good standing (I paid the remaining $17 dollars before I left). Again I haven't contacted them yet and don't intend to until I research this matter completely so that I have a source of ammunition.
I'd say call em, ask why the money is owed, and pay it..Tell em what company you're switching to just to annoy them. It seems like everyone I talk to has a problem with AT&T charges. I went with them for a year then switched back to Verizon.
